Lecxit spaces
Who can be “Lecxit Space”?
Any educational center, library or social/educational entity that wants to.
Which children is Lecxit intended for?
The LECXIT is intended for children in 4th, 5th and 6th grade who have achieved reading mechanics and show difficulties with reading comprehension. Children who do not have a consolidated reading habit and who do not have reading accompaniment from their home, or their closest environment.
Do I need to coordinate with any other educational agent in my municipality to be Espai LECXIT?
Evaluate which agents you think should be part of the LECXIT implementation in your space based on the agent that you are. There must necessarily be a school that selects the participating children. In addition, you could have a library as a physical space where the activity would take place, with an institute whose 3rd and 4th ESO students want to be LECXIT volunteers through the Community Service, with the City Council, with a social/educational entity… among others.
Does there have to be someone from Espai Lecxit in charge of the activity?
Yes. There must be one or more people who are in charge of promoting the implementation of the LECXIT, performing various functions: coordination of the agents involved; search and selection of volunteers and reception, face-to-face accompaniment and support for volunteers and children during reading sessions.
Who is looking for volunteering?
The driving team of the LECXIT space is in charge of searching for and selecting volunteers. For this, the following ways can be used: dissemination through social networks, posters around the space, users of nearby libraries, the City Council volunteer point, students from a nearby university or students of 3rd or 4th ESO through the subject “Community Service”, among others. In addition, from the LECXIT program of the Bofill Foundation we offer you help and support in the search for volunteers.
Should volunteering be trained?
Yes. All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Training that enables them to accompany children. The driving team of the LECXIT space must ensure that the volunteers from their space are trained. You can find more information at training calendar.
Does volunteering have to be insured?
All volunteers must be insured. From the LECXIT Program we offer you to manage it with Volunteers 2000, but there is no problem if you want to manage it with an entity you trust. Volunteering in “Community Service”, as it is a curricular activity, is already insured by the institute itself.

Volunteer
What is the work of the Lecxit volunteer?
Accompany a child to improve their reading comprehension through weekly reading sessions, throughout the school year. A 1×1 relationship is established (a child and a volunteer) and the reading sessions are held in LECXIT spaces (educational centers, libraries or premises of social/educational entities).
What involvement does it require?
The program lasts for the school year. Approximately from October to May of the following year. About 20 reading sessions are held. One session per week. One hour long each session.
What child profile will I accompany?
LECXIT is intended for children of 4th, 5th and 6th grade who have solid reading mechanics and show difficulties with reading comprehension. Infants who do not have a consolidated reading habit and that from home, or their most appropriate environment, do not have a reading companion.
Will I have to train to volunteer?
Yes. All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Training that enables them to accompany children. The session lasts 2 hours, and can be done in person or online. You can find more information at training calendar.
Where will I volunteer?
If a LECXIT space (educational center, library or social/educational entity) has already contacted you and has agreed to collaborate, you will volunteer there. If you have not spoken with any LECXIT space, it will depend on the demand for volunteering from the LECXIT spaces and your time and territorial availability. When this fits, the LECXIT space will contact you to agree on the collaboration.
Is it certain that I will end up accompanying a child?
It is not certain that you can accompany a child. Depending on the existing demand and your availability. It is not always easy to find the fit between both parties.
